Humans
Humans, also known dialectally as Humes (ヒュム Hyumu), are a recurring race that appears throughout the Final Fantasy series.
Based almost entirely on the real-world species, humans are usually the most numerous and politically dominant sentient species in any given Final Fantasy world, particularly in the main series. As the most common sentient species, they are often considered to be a standard or average to which the biology, psychology, and culture of other species and races are compared. A rather potent race, Humans have been witnessed occupying, or at least having the capacity to occupy most jobs in the Final Fantasy worlds.
Humanoid Types and Races
Typically, Humans can define and categorize themselves by their place of origin (Spirans, Galbadians) or by their appearances (such as skin colour), however there are Humans, Human races, or types of human, that possess unique classifications largely due to certain unique abilities.
Aside from humans or humes, Final Fantasy worlds are often populated with humanoid, or near-human, races that have varying degrees of resemblance to true humans (as based on real life).
As an example the Al Bhed race in Final Fantasy X look almost entirely human but for their distinctive spiral-shaped pupils that deviate from the appearance of a typical human, making them, instead, "near-human". Alternatively the classification of "near-human" can also fall upon those of mixed-bloodlines or on those who have been "created in their image" (eg. Genomes).
The term "humanoid" is reserved towards those that only possess human characteristics in a less apparent manner. An example of a "humanoid" race would be the Ronso or the Mithra, both possessing human-like bodies but overall are entirely different from humans.

HypelloThe Hypello (ハイペロ, Haipero) are a race of aquatic creatures in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. The Hypello seem not to have grasped the common pronunciation in Spira, as they say words such as Shay (say), Ebullibody (everybody), and Yesh (yes), as well as ending most of their sentences with a questioning tone. According to Maechen, they have the potential to be good blitzball players, because of their natural swimming proficiency, but because of their lackadaisical disposition they tend to not take part in competitive sports and pastimes. Most of the Hypello seen are instead responsible for managing the shoopuf service across the Moonflow. In Final Fantasy X-2, Tobli uses Hypello as his assistants. A Hypello nicknamed Barkeep by the Gullwings works behind the bar in the cabin of the Celsius and, much in the style of a true bartender, dispenses pieces of advice to several characters. They have an accessory named after them, known as the Hypello Ribbon. While it provides the same all-ailment blocking abilities of a regular Ribbon, it also makes the character wearing it slow, referencing the Hypello's movement on land.

LalafellThe Lalafell are a race from the seas south of Eorzea in Final Fantasy XIV. They somewhat resemble the Tarutaru from Final Fantasy XI. The race consists of the Plainsfolk, which live in thatched-roof homes and have great hearing, and the Dunesfolk who live in the desert and herd animals. The Lalafell were originally a group of agriculturalists inhabiting the fertile islands of the south seas. With the introduction of transmarine commerce, they soon found their way to Eorzea via trade routes. They are now one of the more populous races and are well established throughout the region, though they remain averse to cold climates. The short, rotund builds of the Lalafell belie an incredible agility, and their seemingly feeble legs are capable of carrying them long distances over any terrain. Many among them are also known for possessing highly developed and cunning intellects. The Lalafell place a great deal of significance on familial bonds, but are by no means unfriendly to outsiders. This is evidenced by the fact that they continue to share prosperous relations with all of the other races of Eorzea. Plainsfolk The flat landscapes of the Plainsfolk’s home islands are dotted with the clan’s traditional thatched huts, beneath which lie intricate networks of underground passageways. Their distinct hair coloration—a myriad of earthy and grassy tones—mimics their native environment, and their long, pointy ears are said to be able to detect the faintest scampering of the prairie’s various fauna. Dunesfolk Perhaps the most distinctive aspect of Dunesfolk culture is its traditional dwellings—structures affixed to the backs of large beasts of burden. The luminous eyes of the Dunesfolk are the result of a glossy, protective layer which covers the pupil, an evolutionary response to the glaring sunlight of their home region. Many individuals wear a small gemstone on their forehead, representing their zodiacal sign.

Mamool JaThe Mamool Ja are a group of beastmen that hold dominion over the Mamool Ja Savagelands. Meaning "Brethren of the Shining Scale" in their native tongue, the Mamool Ja are one of the chief enemies of the Empire of Aht Urhgan. The Mamool Ja have been paying tribute to the Empire of Aht Urhgan since ages past, and are known for their republican form of government. Their nation is ruled by a council of four overlords, one selected from each class. The Mamool Ja Savages' recent uprising against the empire seems connected to the emergence of a prominent leader known as the "The Autarch," Gulool Ja Ja. At Gulool Ja Ja's command, they regularly lay siege to the city of Al Zahbi. There are two colors of Mamool Ja: brown Mamool Ja specialize in melee combat, while blue ones specialize in fighting with magic. Mamool Ja Knights are also known to make use of Wivres as mounts. They are notable as the only Beastman race capable of using Blue Magic. Blue Mage Mamool Ja are brown.

Miqo'te(pretty much a neko) The Miqo'te are a cat-like race from Eorzea in Final Fantasy XIV. Like the Hyur, the Miqo'te are an immigrant race; they are not originally native to the region. History During the Age of Endless Frost, as the seas turned to ice and passage over them became possible, Eorzea saw an influx of foreign fauna to her shores. This in turn brought the hunting tribes which subsisted upon them, the modern descendants of whom are today known as the Miqo’te. Since their arrival, the Miqo’te have diverged into two physically distinguishable groups — the diurnal Seekers of the Sun and the nocturnal Keepers of the Moon. Culture As a species, the Miqo'te have diverged into two seperate race cultures; the Seekers of the Sun and the Keepers of the Moon. The Seekers of the Sun worship the goddess of the sun, Azeyma the Warden, and their culture revolves around the inclusion of the sun in their daily lives; becoming known as the diurnal clan of the Miqo'te race; active during the day. The Keepers of the Moon are nocturnal. Shying from the garish light of day, they revel in the shroud of night, and offer their piety to Menphina the Lover, goddess of the moon. The Keepers of the Moon also have a custom of applying war paint to their faces; as it is believed the vivid colors grant lunar powers. Edit Physiology sectionEdit Physiology The Miqo'te alongside other playable races Due to the differences of their cultures, there are some physical difference between the Seekers of the Sun and the Keepers of the Moon. Due to their exposure to light, the pupils of a "Seeker of the Sun" are vertically aligned slits with irises become feintly coloured. It is also not uncommon for their eyes to be disparately coloured from birth, a trait considered auspicious amongst their kind. In contrast, due to their exposure to darkness, the pupils of a "Keeper of the Moon" are large and round, with very little iris exposure. They are distinguishable from their diurnal cousins by their darker fur, larger ears, rounder eyes, more pronounced canines, and longer, skinnier tails. Both groups share a superb sense of smell and powerful leg muscles, results of a long evolution geared towards hunting and predation. Demeanor Comparatively few in number, they maintain an insular group mentality within their clans, tending to avoid contact with the other races. Many individuals lead isolated lifestyles, even when living in the more populous cities. The Seekers are widely regarded as quick-witted and prone to action, and many exhibit a tendency to bore easily while the Keepers are known for their reticent and brooding personalities, but are also respected and sometimes feared for their tenacity. Avid Fishers, their high Dexterity and quick wit makes them outstanding Archers and Pugilists.

Moogle(thats right i made moogle's a playable race XD) "Kupo!" —Moogle Moogles (モーグリ, Mōguri) are a recurring race in the Final Fantasy series. The name Moogle (or Moguri in Japanese, Spanish and Italian and Mogry in German) is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for mole (mogura) and bat (komori). They first appeared in Final Fantasy III and have appeared in some capacity in every main series game since, with the exception of Final Fantasy IV. The importance of moogles to the plot varies from game to game, ranging from playable characters to simple cameos. Several, such as Mog, Stiltzkin, Artemicion and Montblanc, have made repeated appearances. Although their appearance has changed throughout games, they can easily be recognized by the small wings, usually pink or white fur and a pom-pom hanging from their heads. Moogles are generally mild tempered and like to eat vines and fictional Kupo Nuts. Dissidia Final Fantasy mentions that moogles can fly, but not by using their wings: they suck up air to inflate themselves and float, and only use their wings to steer themselves about. Moogles are intelligent and industrious, though in some games they are wary of human contact. Because of their size, the lot of playable moogle characters specialize in gadgetry, tinkering, and engineering. Even in games where Moogles do not mind humans, they are known to maintain their own separate societies. Moogles are capable of communicating across long distances, a feat often attributed to the moogle mail service, Mognet. In earlier games, moogles spoke only with their trademark cry "kupo", and variations of such. In later games moogles have been able to speak English, but often punctuate their sentences with "kupo", as a sort of verbal tic. In some Japanese version games, they use the pronoun "mogu" in place of the word "I", such as if a young girl would use "atashi" and a young boy with "boku".

Nu MouThe Nu Mou (ン・モゥ, N Mou) are a race in the Final Fantasy series, exclusive to Ivalice. Physiology The Nu Mou are dog-like in appearance, being squat with elongated faces and tails, and have a lifespan three times longer than humes. Other than that, not much is known about the Nu Mou, as they are a reserved race. The Nu Mou excel in magic, since their small bodies restrict their physical abilities. However, when magic won't do, they can also call on the abilities of monsters to help. Appearances The Nu Mou are a people of legends and tradition, passing down many tales, their most well known being the legend of the Espers. Most are found on the sacred Mt. Bur-Omisace where, as part of the Kiltia sect, they take care of pilgrims and those wounded by war. The rest are scattered across Ivalice. Ma'kenroh, who bears a name similar to one of the randomized names in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Mackenroe, is the first Nu Mou players will normally encounter, when they visit Montblanc's Clan Centurio in Rabanastre. He can be found standing at the top of the stairs, behind the viera named Krjn, and will give clues to the location of Vaan's current Mark. Ma'Kleou waits by the cliff in the Nabreus Deadlands, and gives the player a quest to find three medallions, which will eventually lead to a hidden Esper in the Necrohol of Nabudis. As part of this quest, Vaan will meet Roh'Kenmou in the residence of Old Dalan, and Roh'Kenmu, with a nameless associate, in the Magick Shop in Archades. There is also another one named Ashkroft who became master of dark arts and was sealed by Gran Kiltias Anastasis. He becomes a hunt after Anastasis is killed. The bill is posted by Ivaness on the Temple Grounds on Mt. Bur-Omisace; the hunt's name is Piscodaemon.

QiqirnQiqirn are diminutive Beastmen in Final Fantasy XI. They maintain peaceful relationships with the Enlightened Races of Vana'diel. Most reside in Nashmau, a former military outpost central to the western half of the Empire of Aht Urhgan. They tend to have an easygoing and cheerful personality, but have difficulty speaking the common language due to their unusual vocal chords. Even so, it is not uncommon to hire a Qiqirn as a shop or guild assistant, thanks to their reliability and surprisingly quick wits. Some Qiqirn have even made use of their sharp sense of smell to become extremely wealthy in the production of fragrances. According to their oral tradition, the ancestors of the Qiqirn lived a nomadic life in the northern lands. Even today, remnants of the Qiqirn's ancient lifestyle may be seen in their unique customs, such as their sheep-led wagon homes, their leather clothing, and their habit of carrying their valuables with them at all times. Hostile Qiqirn exhibit a number of unusual behaviors depending on their job. Qiqirn rangers will fight normally for a short period of time before running away to seek the assistance of their peers, who subsequently join the battle. Qiqirn thieves will flee outright, covering their trail with bombs which explode on contact. These hazards can be destroyed with magic or a ranged attack. Qiqirn black mages from the Ruins of Alzadaal will run around casting high level black magic until, after a time, they use Warp to depart.

QuadavThe Quadav are a race of turtle-like bipeds in Final Fantasy XI. They are one of the races referred to as beastmen. Their capital is Beadeaux, a swampy region near the Pashhow Marshlands, and they are neighbors to the Humes and Galka in the Republic of Bastok. They tend to burrow and mine for a living. While the Bastok nation has been carved by enterprising Humes out of the former Quadav territories, presumably by the strength of the tough Galka, Quadavs have remained in control of the nearby Palborough Mines. They are found almost exclusively on the continent of Quon. Their kingdom, as they are ruled by The Adamanking, is nestled, perhaps uncomfortably, between Bastok, the Kingdom of San d'Oria, and the Grand Duchy of Jeuno. Quadavs are closely tied to earth and water elements which covers the two more prevalent terrain types they inhabit and toil about. The Quadav identify themselves individually and culturally with the materials with which they work. As their shells thicken with age, the titles given to individual Quadav change. Within their strict caste system, those chosen to serve in the Elite Guard are given titles portraying hard and precious metals, while those chosen to be magicians are given titles taken from precious gems. The Quadav have long possessed an understanding of metallurgical technology, and have adapted their skills in metalworking to even create fire-fueled incubators with pipes to carry warm air into the ground to warm the damp caves where their eggs are kept.

RonsoThe Ronso are a race of muscular, anthropomorphic feline humanoids from the world of Spira in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. The Ronso tribe lives at the base of Mt. Gagazet and guard the sacred mountain fiercely. They are formidable warriors, well known for their strong sense of honor and loyalty, as well as their pride and quickness to anger. History In Final Fantasy X, once Yuna and her Guardians arrive at Mt. Gagazet on their way to Zanarkand, Maester Kelk Ronso and the Ronso tribe block their path until they are convinced of Yuna's conviction, upon which they allow the group to pass and swear to guard the gate from the Guado who seek to apprehend the group for treason. The Ronso underestimate Seymour Guado's power, however, and many Ronso were killed in their attempt to stall him from going after Yuna. After Sin's defeat, the deconstruction of Yevon, and the onset of the Eternal Calm, the few remaining Ronso youth foster a deep hatred of the Guado for what Seymour had done, and one Ronso in particular; Garik Ronso, openly seeks revenge against the wishes of the new Elder, Kimahri. The Gullwings thwart Garik's plans of rebellion when he climbs the mountain to receive guidance. Confused and angry, Garik demands for Kimahri to tell the Ronso the path the tribe should take, but Kimahri has no answer, and as a result Garik rejects him as their leader. But, through the example of young Ronso Lian and Ayde (who had traveled Spira in a vain attempt to fix Kimahri's horn), Kimahri sees that the Ronso have to travel and experience all of Spira to learn their path. And thus, after proving to Garik violence is not always the answer, the Ronso elder decides it is for each individual Ronso to decide their path to ensure the tribe's future. Culture While they have been seen traveling across Spira, the Ronso village is located at the base of Mt. Gagazet. Hardly anything is known of their culture, other than that they view the mountain a sacred location and trekking up the mountain is viewed as a spiritual journey for a Ronso seeking guidance. However, no actual Ronso dwellings are ever seen. Physiology Ronso are humanoid in stature, standing above two meters in average height (with the males considerably larger and more muscular than the females, who possess a "faster", more athletic body type). They are feline in appearance, possessing hands/claws and foot paws, they walk on (what would be for Humans) the balls of their feet and possess dew-claws as well as foot pads. Possessing lion-like tails that roughly measure half of their body lengths, Ronso bodies are covered in blue fur (perhaps a trait due to their living in a winter climate) with patches of white (though the color has differed to either a darker blue or yellow depending on the individual) fur around the thighs, calves, shoulders, chest (males), tail-tips, and scalp. The abundance of the fur the patches consist of seems to be greater on the males than the females, based on observation. The scalp fur, or mane, is usually tied back or styled in a similar way to hair. In regards to facial appearances Ronso differ in comparison to humans, again they possess feline attributes like muzzles and fangs as well as a distinct cat-like nose. Their ears, while located similar to humans, possess a more elven shape and are thought to be capable of articulation similar to cats. The male Ronso possess a singular horn that grows from the forehead and denotes status and power. The females do not seem to posses this attribute. For the males, the horn is a symbol of their strength and pride, and to lose the horn in battle is considered shameful. Kimahri Ronso was one such Ronso who had been cast out due to its loss and his comparatively small stature next to his kin. Both genders possess carnivore fangs, hinting that they may be meat eaters (it is unknown if they are omnivores). Their eyes are yellow, contrasting starkly against their fur, and constantly give the impression of a predator’s gaze. Demeanor During the events of Final Fantasy X Kelk Ronso was the current tribe leader of the Gagazet Ronso and was their representative in Bevelle as a Maester of Yevon. After his death at the hands of Seymour Guado, Kimahri took up the role as the tribe's leader. Language A largely taciturn species, the Ronso give the impression of being slightly uncomfortable with human language as they speak in short, direct sentences with rough grammar. They also habitually refer to themselves in third person. Another notable lingual trend is in their names, with the first name being their own and the second being "Ronso" to denote species. The Guado race also possesses this habit. Maester Kelk however, speaks English normally.

SeeqThe Seeq (シーク, Shīku) are a race in the Final Fantasy series, exclusive to Ivalice. Physiology The seeq are a pig-like race who come in a variety of colors and sizes. It is physically impossible for any other race to tell the difference between a male and female seeq, although clothing and temperament can provide pointers. Seeq do not tend to dress very well, typically covering up only their lower regions unless they are female, in which case their upper half is also covered. However, some seeq have what appear to be happy faces tattooed on their bellies. No other race understands what this odd pattern means. It could potentially be a sign of social standing. The seeq are not on the same kind of social level as the Humes and Bangaa. Instead, they are treated as lower-class citizens. This may have something to do with their crude speech style and lower intelligence. All Seeq are weak to Fire. Most seeq tend to do manual labor, and it is not uncommon for some Seeq to resort to a life of crime, with most Seeqs becoming thieves.

TarutaruThe Tarutaru (タルタル, Tarutaru) are a race of beings with brownish button noses and chipmunk-like attributes from the Federation of Windurst Although they resemble children in size, this does not reflect their age. In fact, the Tarutaru seem to change their appearance little as they age, and while short in stature, the Tarutaru are extremely proficient in magical ability, which they hone through careful and determined study of the natural world. The Tarutaru are said to understand the importance of the balance between natural harmony and magic. Because of this understanding, they have produced some of the greatest mages in the world's history. It was their way of life that fueled the rapid reconstruction of Windurst following its destruction during the Crystal War. History "In the creation myth of Vana'diel the children of the gods, the Ancients, attempted to gain entry to Paradise, however the Gate Keeper of Paradise rejected them and destroyed their entire civilization. The goddess, Altana, having awoken from her slumber, wept over the destruction of the ancient race. Her tears cleaned away the wreckage and five devine tears gave rise to the five enlightened races (Elvaan, Galka, Hume, Mithra, Tarutaru). The God of Twilight, Promathia, however, was disgusted by Altana's weakness and so cursed the five races by bringing out their darkest emotions - the Elvaan's arrogance, the Hume's apathy, the envy of the Mithra, the cowardice of the Tarutaru, and the Galka's rage and curse them to constant internal conflict." —Creation Myth of Vana'diel Culture The Tarutaru enjoy a friendly relationship with the Mithra, who live in Windurst as well after they were admitted to the nation by the Star Sibyl, the ruler of Windurst and moral leader of all Vana'diel. Most Tarutaru tend to speak with an interesting language variation than the standard living creatures of Vana'diel. Many seem to add an "-aru" to the end of many words, usually ending in consonants. They also seem to use "-ethy" at the end of certain adjectives and make words rhyme. Professor Shantotto is the most obvious example of the rhyming speech though this may be a sign of her "unique" personality. However, there are many Tarutaru who do not speak with this accent, notably the War Warlocks and the Star Sybil themselves do not speak with any variation. Physiology The most obvious difference between the Tarutaru and the other races is that they are noticeably smaller. Interestingly enough, the Tarutaru do not seem to age physically (at least not noticeably) when they reach adulthood. Some Tarutaru are said to be as old as hume adults if not older and yet they still appear no older than those Tarutaru who just reached their prime. The Tarutaru have two genders and have a natural gift for magic. They easily make the most potent and powerful spellcasters in the land. The Tarutaru also possess a naturally high intelligence that manifests at an early age with many young Tarutaru having quite the grasp on vocabulary Demeanor Tarutaru lack the physical strength and durability of their fellow enlightened races as a result of their racial leaning towards magical study, but do control greater reserves of magical power (MP) as a result, and are the most studious and intelligent of the races of Vana'diel - although not the most wise or spiritual; often being presented as heedless of caution. Tarutaru do tend to be more trusting of outsiders and they are the only race that has reached some form of political settlement with the neighboring beastmen, the Yagudo. Individual Tarutaru tend to vary in personality, from the "wacky" Professor Shantotto, to the calm, almost poetic Star Sybil. Various other Tarutaru display trademark personalities like an incredible curiosity and a talent for mischief. Tarutaru are the archetypal example of skill at Black Magic and White Magic and they excel most well in the ancient art of summoning, although the combination of their vast magical power, precise spellcraft, lack of caution and physical vulnerability has resulted in the death of many such Tarutaru Black Mages. Military The Federation Forces of Windurst are led by a Warlock Warlord, chosen once a year from the Parliament of Patriarchs, and consist of twelve brigades of War Warlocks and four brigades of Mithra Mercenaries.

TrollThese massive beastmen make their homes around Mount Zhayolm. The Trolls originally inhabited the precipitous mountain ranges that lie in the center of the Aradjiah continent. However, through the generations, ranks of Trolls made use of their brawn and courage to join the Gigas from the north and the Mithra from the south in the mercenary trade. The Trolls' ancestors served as a mercenary unit in the Imperial Army, and were afterward hired by the Moblins. The reasons for their move to Mount Zhayolm are debatable, but they were able to maintain autonomy over their mercenary lands (also known as the Halvung Territory) by paying tribute to the Empire until the conflict for the Astral Candescence began. Thanks to the Moblins' generous technological offerings, the Troll mercenaries now possess equipment superior to that of the other Near Eastern beastmen, including naphtha-powered incendiary weapons and mass-produced cast metal helmets. According to rumor, the Trolls also undergo anatomy-enhancing surgical operations in order to survive in the harshest of environments. Their might and hostility towards Aht Urhgan make the Trolls the Imperial capital's greatest threat.

Viera "The viera may begin as part of the Wood, but the Wood is not the only end that we may choose." —Fran The Viera (ヴィエラ, Viera) are a race in the Final Fantasy series, exclusive to Ivalice. They first appeared in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Physiology The viera have rabbit-like features, including long ears and supple limbs. Due to their long feet, viera wear stilettos most of the time. The viera also have a heightened sense of smell, which can put them at a disadvantage against some of Ivalice's smellier monsters. The viera are very sensitive to mist. If they are exposed to too much mist, they will go into a frenzy, known simply as a mist frenzy. When experiencing a mist frenzy, a viera can literally tear apart metal shackles and kill armored humes with unarmed blows. The viera's ears not only allow them to hear over great distances, they also allow them to listen to the voices of the spirit world. They can put this ability to great use, either to communicate with the world around them, or to summon monsters from other worlds. Furthermore, the viera have approximately three times the lifespan of humes; they can be more than 50 years old and still be in their prime. Viera have light-colored hair, though those who chose to live among humes often color their hair in shades of brown or black. As with the bangaa, the viera are divided into two sub-branches; the light-skinned Veena Viera and the dark-skinned Rava Viera. Another sub-branch called the Feol Viera . Male viera do exist, contrary to popular belief, however they have never been depicted in the series, except for a single male summoner in a mission in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and live apart from the female viera The viera live deep within the woods; male and female viera live separately from each other and only make contact and communication when the need arises. Their lifespan is three times that of humes.[1] Viera have superb eyesight compared to that of humes; it is said that they can spot their prey from as far as 10 km (6.22 miles) distance. Not to forget their sense of hearing, this allows them to tell the difference in footsteps which comes in handy if they are being hunted themselves. All viera allies, with the exception of Fran, are weak to Earth. In Eruyt Village there are two jobs the viera can do: Salve-Maker and Wood-Warder. Those who wish to become Salve-Makers must complete the rite of passage of catching the Vorpal Bunny, which appears every seven years. Its tail is used to create Vision Dust, which keeps the viera village hidden from outsiders. Having lost their ancient homelands to war over 450 years ago, some viera began to question their way of life and went off to live among the humes. This went against their law, referred to as the "Green Word," which forbids contact with the world outside. According to Jote, Fran's sister and the leader of the viera who remained in Eruyt Village, once a viera breaks this law, they are considered viera no more and are regarded as outcasts. The viera of Eryut Village are shown to be able to communicate with "the Wood," meaning that the Golmore Jungle might be a living entity. An outcast's senses eventually become dimmed, and they become unable to hear the wood, like Fran. Whether a viera can regain the ability to communicate with the wood is unknown.
